The Uptown plan is intended to balance regional demands and neighborhood needs by addressing the community’s transportation, land use, open space, and built form issues. The plan will recommend establishing a distinct mixed-use core area that reinforces and further defines existing neighborhood edges. Furthermore, it will advise the development of a transition zone between the mixed-use core and surrounding neighborhoods to encourage disparate building scales and land uses to blend smoothly. This approach will lead to flexibility for developers and predictability and quality for residents.
Cuningham Group is leading the consultant team and a broad stakeholder contingent through a transparent, open public process to further refine these ideas. The resulting plan will recommend maintaining and building on the area’s strengths to help impending change occur appropriately.
