The culture of the Viejas Band of the Kumeyaay Indians reflects a strong reverence for the natural elements of the Alpine Valley. Therefore, Cuningham Group’s design incorporates symbols of earth, water, wind, and fire that are found throughout the outlet center in the form of mosaic designs, stone carvings, and colorful signage. Bronze sculptures of native wildlife appear throughout the site and hidden speakers emit the sounds of nature, flutes and ceremonial chanting to further enhance the sensory experience found at Viejas.
