San Joaquin Bank selected Cuningham Group to design its new branch on Panama Lane and Stine Road in Bakersfield. Sustainable design features for this new branch, which is seeking LEED® certification, include: openable windows, north and south facing clerestory glass for natural daylighting through the main lobby, teller’s line and officer’s platform areas, glass partitions in the interior that offer views to the exterior, lighting controls to conserve energy when natural lighting is available, under-roof low-energy mechanical equipment, cool roof, shade trees and accommodations for recycling.
While the sustainable design lowers energy use and provides greater occupant comfort, it can also indirectly increase worker productivity; therefore, creating a unique, signature building for the client. The bank opened for business on February 27, 2009.
