Ambulatory Care Center
An eight provider Reimagining Ambulatory Care Design (RAD) clinic, represents Kaiser’s first expansion into the City of Santa Monica. The incoming patient and visitor experience begins with a welcome entry located directly in front of the main elevator lobby. The space evolved from shared concerns regarding member experience, including lack of connectedness to outdoor space, a known stimulant of one’s autonomic nervous system, as the clinic is located on the second floor of the building.
Given uncontrollable external factors, we included a smooth transition from sensory perception of externalities to the new RAD member experience (including concepts of energy and active waiting). Santa Monica’s iconic Palisades Park inspired design elements throughout the public spaces including finishes, artwork, an innovative intermittent 3D soundscape, and interactive LED visual screens that react in response to motion sensors.
