Marilyn Castro, a designer in our Culver City office, recently participated in a career day event at Today’s Fresh Start Charter School in Los Angeles. The students were thrilled to see 3D models and rendered floor plans, and a student volunteer was dressed up as an architect ready to visit a job site – complete with a Cuningham Group hard hat and vest!
By the end of the presentation, students learned how an architect uses the site to determine the placement of a building; how architects work with team members called consultants, and how contractors use our architectural drawings as a manual to construct a building.
Marilyn presented along with a financial analyst, retired pilot, fashion designer, and a plant manager. We might be biased, but we heard that the students enjoyed the architecture presentation the best. It was a wonderful opportunity to inspire and motivate the next generation of architects!
