California State University, Long Beach Brotman Hall

The renovation to CSU Long Beach’s Brotman Hall is designed to create sustainable, welcoming spaces that improve users’ physical and psychological well-being.

The newly refreshed space exposes the building’s concrete structure and mechanical systems, offering an industrial spin on the otherwise traditional environment. A bright and airy break room serves as the social center of the department, and collaboration stations are nestled throughout the office, offering opportunities for cross-office partnerships. Booth structures create a natural separation of the spaces and offices are moved away from the exterior wall to maximize access to natural light.
