Cuningham Group designed a new $110 million gaming resort located on tribal land in the picturesque Great Smoky Mountains in North Carolina for the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians and Caesars Entertainment. This site is approximately 60 miles from its sister property, Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Resort.

This new resort incorporates elements of the natural environment to position the building appropriately and dramatically within the terrain of the three-tiered site, as well as to inform the shape of the exterior experience. Majestic tree trunks rising from rock outcroppings and the gentle rhythmic layers of the mountains are just two examples of local natural elements reflected within the design.

Inside, the Grand Hall serves as a primary organizing component—a lofty entrance space featuring ample glass open to the surrounding views. The Grand Hall is the center that connects all major components of the resort including the main casino floor, the 300-room hotel, and the five-outlet food market.
