Summit’s primary ambition was to establish and foster learning environments which were flexible and supportive of a variety of learning and teaching styles. The renovation and addition introduced several learning communities based on affinities between disciplines. Each community provided a variety in the both the scale and type of learning/teaching space, including an expanse of shared Commons for each community.
Based on the school’s visioning of new learning community, Summit expanded their facility to replace existing portable classrooms and provide a performance and gathering hall to serve as a place for collaboration, assembly, display and theatrical performances.
