Throughout 2018 we celebrated Cuningham Group’s 50th Anniversary! We’re showcasing what we’ve accomplished together over the past 50 years while looking forward to the upcoming decades of great design. Thank you for helping us create 50 years of Uplifting the Human Experience.

Uplift 50 Tour

Verona

Our team in Verona, Wisconsin celebrated the firm’s 50th anniversary events by volunteering for Healthy Food for All, packing food for communities in need. Afterwards, the group made its way to the Epic Systems campuses where they toured the company’s headquarters during their annual User Group Meeting. To top off the celebrations, the team gathered together for an exciting tour of famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin Preservation.

Denver

The Denver office gathered together to celebrate the firm’s 50th Anniversary by volunteering at the Staunton State Park for meadow and trail clean up. The crew spent time picking up trash and picking weeds from the meadow. The clean up was followed by a nice lunch in the park. The following day, festivities continued with a team barbecue equipped with burgers, brats and fun yard games at Washington Park.

Minneapolis

Our Minneapolis office kicked off 50th Anniversary celebrations with a Cuningham Group presentation (“50 Years of Having a Good Time”) put on by John Cuningham followed by an Alumni Beer Hour. The next day, Cuningham Group employees split up into two different volunteer groups, one assembling brand new dressers at Bridging and the other packing food at the Sheridan Story. After an afternoon of volunteering, employees re-convened at the office for food, socializing and karaoke.

Culver City

Our Culver City office celebrated the firm’s 50th anniversary events by volunteering for Health the Bay. They picked up over 150 pounds of trash and 1,500 cigarette butts along the coastline at the Santa Monica Pier. Later, they gathered together to have an afternoon of fun, having a nice picnic-style lunch followed by a friendly yard-game competition.

Phoenix

Our Phoenix office celebrated our 50th anniversary with various fun festivities. The team invited families from Arizona Autism United (AZA) to join them for games, pizza and cartoons. Later, the office took to the ball field to watch the Arizona Diamondbacks take on the Colorado Rockies. Festivities didn’t end there as the group visited the Project Cure Warehouse to see how Pipeline Worldwide and Project C.U.R.E are donating medical equipment and shipping containers to places in Africa struggling to get clean water sources. The group helped pack a shipping container that was later sent to Sister Rosemary’s farm in Uganda. Celebrations were high as John Cuningham presented the last 50 years of Cuningham Group to the office.

BILOXI

On February 4, Biloxi kicked-off its 50th anniversary event by volunteering for Resilience of Coastal Kids (R.O.C.K.), a local non-profit that supports the needs of foster kids in the tri-coastal counties of Mississippi. Cuningham Group Ambassadors and Biloxi staff worked together to build bunk beds to help accommodate the more than 1,500 children in foster care systems. The events continued on Monday when the team celebrated Interdependence Day by participating in a private pottery class at the Ohr-O’Keefe Museum. The team ended the fun 50th events by celebrating Marti Gras with plenty of King Cake and Po-boys.

Las Vegas

Las Vegas kicked-off its 50th anniversary events by mentoring at Clark County School District’s magnet school, Southeast Career Technical Academy (SECTA), as part of an effort to help high school students with their design solutions projects for an AIA Las Vegas sponsored competition. Later, the team volunteered at Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada, helping paint the Men’s Day Shelter with the help of Dunn Edwards and the Korte Construction.

Events continued the following day with an office photo scavenger hunt at the Linq Promenade Las Vegas. Employees divided into teams to conquer the lengthy scavenger hunt list. After completing the scavenger hunt, the group migrated to Jake & Eli’s at the Westin, recently designed by Cuningham Group, to enjoy happy hour. The team ended the fun 50th events by enjoying an office potluck as John Cuningham presented about the evolution of Cuningham Group from his perspective.

San Diego

In January, the San Diego Office, Uplift 50 Travel Ambassadors and guests kicked off Cuningham Group’s series of “Days of Giving.” The team volunteered during the lunch shift at Father Joe’s Saint Vincent de Paul Village by preparing, scoping, filling, serving, running, busing, and cleaning.

Father Joe’s began 65 years ago and has grown to become San Diego’s largest homeless services provider providing 3,000 meals a day – breakfast, lunch and dinner – to individuals and families. The Village is a short walk from our office and many of today’s volunteers made that short walk. Of course for our visitors from Minneapolis, our sunny Southern Californian “winter” served as a welcome respite from the cold.

We also celebrated the firm’s Interdependence Day by flying yellow Cuningham Group kites at Centennial Park on Coronado Island, overlooking beautiful San Diego.
